Originally built in Vietnam in 2011 as a 5,193 DWT multipurpose cargo vessel, the ship was delivered to her new owner on 8 April 2024 after extensive upgrades and class transition.
What makes this case stand out is not just the change of ownership, but the scale of investment. The new owner committed significant resources to refurbishing the vessel, aiming to bring her condition close to that of a newly built ship. This included structural renewals, machinery overhauls, and class-required improvements.
A milestone achievement was the successful upgrade from non-IACS to full IACS classification, a process facilitated by SVC Marine. This transition ensures that the vessel now meets the highest international standards, opening new trading opportunities and extending her commercial life.
With a length overall of 91.94 metres, breadth of 15.30 metres, and main engine power of 1,765 kW, the vessel now sails as M/V Kayo under renewed class certification.
This transaction demonstrates both the resilience of Vietnamese-built tonnage and the pivotal role of SVC Marine in delivering technical solutions and market-ready vessels for international buyers.
