General Procedures for Crew Joining/Disembarkation
- Shipowner/manager sends request letter to relevant Embassy in Vietnam on behalf of the crew.
- Embassy issues Verbal Note to Vietnamese Authorities.
- Consular Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs forwards to local authorities.
- The People’s Committee of the province/city where the vessel calls approves the isolation and joining/disembarkation plan.
- With People’s Committee approval, visa application is submitted to the Immigration Department.
- Immigration Department issues visa approval, enabling crew to obtain visa on arrival.
- All crew must undergo quarantine (usually 14 days in a designated hotel) upon arrival in Vietnam.
Processing time: These procedures normally require at least 14 days for approval, plus 14 days quarantine – a total of around 28 days. However, in Quang Ninh Province (Hon Gai / Cam Pha anchorage), the People’s Committee may approve isolation/disembarkation within only 3 working days, with visa arranged in advance.
