BWMS and scrubber repair and retrofit in Vietnam

Plan BWMS retrofit and scrubber pipe repair with SVC Marine. Review released project photographs and send system drawings, defects and port timing.

01

Two systems with separate work scopes

SVC Marine carries out BWMS installation work and repairs to scrubber pipework in Vietnam. The work includes the agreed mechanical, piping and electrical tasks for each system, with maker instructions and commissioning responsibilities identified in the worklist. Our project examples include a BWMS retrofit and a separate scrubber overboard repair at Quy Nhon. Send the equipment references, drawings and vessel schedule so SVC can plan the required fabrication, onboard installation or repair attendance.

A useful enquiry states whether the request is a new installation, a modification to an existing arrangement or fault attendance. Identify the maker, model and affected equipment. Send the latest drawings, available fault information and the planned port window. A retrofit photograph does not establish that an existing defect has the same cause or needs the same modification.

BWMS retrofit planning

The BWMS retrofit and installation record includes a piping model, filter unit, treatment equipment, spool fitting, valve arrangements and control wiring. These images show several work areas that may need to be considered together in an installation enquiry.

For a new scope, provide the approved or proposed arrangement, equipment dimensions and relevant interfaces. Identify pipe routing, foundations, access for lifting and the location of control equipment. State which drawings are available and which items require onboard measurement. The worklist should distinguish equipment supply, prefabrication, installation, electrical connections and the activities assigned to the maker or commissioning party.

Space and access can affect the practical work plan. Tell SVC which machinery spaces are available, what other operations are planned and when the vessel can provide the required working conditions. Material and component lists should remain connected to the correct drawing revision, including valves, connections and equipment references.

03

Scrubber overboard and associated pipework

The Quy Nhon scrubber overboard case shows corrosion, a removed spool, prepared replacement pipework, flange work and renewed piping. It is a pipe repair record and should not be described as a new scrubber installation or evidence of a particular emission-test result.

For an overboard repair request, mark the affected section and provide the existing specification if available. State material, dimensions, flange standard and the interfaces with adjacent pipework. Explain whether the proposed scope is limited to a spool or includes surrounding connections. Inspection may be needed before final fabrication dimensions or quantities are accepted.

04

Electrical interfaces and testing

System enquiries may include alarms, controls or electrical connections in addition to mechanical work. Send the equipment references and the vessel's recorded symptoms, rather than selecting a replacement component from a photograph. The maker documentation and agreed technical scope determine what checks and tests are relevant.

Ask the quotation to identify responsibility for commissioning, witness attendance and completion documents. Include the applicable maker checks, test procedures and acceptance documents for the vessel's actual system. Where a Surveyor is required, include the attendance and document requirements in the worklist.

05

Build a connected repair package

Keep the mechanical, electrical and maker-related tasks in separate lines within one package. Identify supplied equipment, fabrication items, onboard work and the requested handover records. This helps the parties agree what can be completed within the call and what remains outside the attendance. For additional pipe systems, see marine pipe renewal and pipework.

06

Plan attendance around the actual port call

Send the port or anchorage, ETA, ETD, available working period and any vessel restrictions with the defect list. SVC reviews the required access, planned cargo operations and other work that affects attendance. The quotation identifies inspection, parts, fabrication, onboard labour, testing and any attendance by a Surveyor. Agree the required completion records, witness arrangements and handover responsibilities before work starts so each item can be followed through to completion.

For a wider worklist, use SVC Marine ship repair services. Email the repair enquiry with drawings, equipment references and photographs through the private enquiry channel. SVC Marine is proud to help complete the full lifecycle of a vessel.

FAQ

Are BWMS and scrubber work the same scope?

No. They have separate equipment, drawings, maker instructions and acceptance requirements.

What is needed for a pipe repair quotation?

Send marked drawings, material and connection specifications, observed condition, access and the port working window.

What should be agreed before commissioning?

Identify the tasks assigned to the maker or commissioning party, the required checks and tests, witness attendance and the completion documents for the vessel's system.
