Ship repair and drydock cooperation at Pha Rung Shipyard
In May 2020, SVC Marine signed a strategic partnership with Pha Rung Shipyard for ship repair, drydock and owner's representative work in Vietnam. The agreement added a Northern Vietnam shipyard to our repair network, with mechanical repair, steel work and docking facilities relevant to owners trading through Hai Phong and Quang Ninh.

Repair specifications and yard quotation negotiations
Our superintendent reviews the owner's repair list before it becomes a yard order. We examine machinery defects, steel renewal, piping, coating and testing requirements, then clarify quantities, access, materials and acceptance checks with the owner and yard.
SVC compares yard quotations item by item and negotiates commercial terms. Labour, materials, dock charges, subcontracted services and exclusions need a clear basis. We examine additional-work quotations against the agreed repair specification so the owner can decide on scope and cost before work proceeds.
Superintendent inspections during drydock
SVC superintendents attend the yard, inspect work in progress and record defects and outstanding items. Our drydock supervision in Vietnam includes progress photographs, daily reports and checks against the agreed repair list.
The yard carries out its contracted repairs. SVC examines the work for the owner, questions workmanship or scope discrepancies, checks reported progress and raises decisions that affect cost or the docking schedule. Our owner's representative service keeps technical and commercial decisions in the owner's hands.
Mechanical repair, steel work and survey planning
Mechanical work can involve dismantling, inspection, measurements, parts replacement, reassembly and running tests. Steel and piping work requires the correct renewal scope, material details and inspection stages. SVC checks the work sequence, inspects findings and records the tests required for completion.
We plan class-surveyor attendance and specialist services such as underwater inspection, thickness measurement, LSA, FFE and radio servicing around the repair programme. Class or statutory survey decisions remain with the relevant authority; SVC's inspection reports document the owner-side work and findings.
Completion inspections and the repair file
Before handover, SVC inspects outstanding items and witnesses agreed machinery or equipment tests. We check the completion list, review final quantities and variations, and examine the yard invoice against the accepted scope.
The owner receives progress reports, photographs, recorded findings and the relevant completion and service documents. Unresolved defects and remaining actions are stated clearly in the handover file.
