The repair area
The published project records renewal of a damaged cargo hold bulkhead section forming part of a ballast wing tank boundary. The repair involved cropping the damaged steel and fitting a new AH36 insert plate.

Onboard execution
SVC Marine's welders, cutter and supervisor carried out the local steel renewal. The repair specification required verification of the welding procedure, welders, steel and consumables by class before starting work.

Plate preparation and fit-up
The photographs show plate preparation, lowering the replacement steel into the hold, fit-up with strongbacks and welding around the insert. The drawing records weld-joint details for the bulkhead renewal.

Inspection requirements
The stated repair requirements included ultrasonic and vacuum testing of the butt joint, penetrant testing of the fillet weld and final examination by the vessel and ClassNK representatives.
