Waste Oil Incinerator Repair in Vietnam

Marine waste oil incinerators are critical for onboard waste oil and sludge management. When the incinerator fails to ignite, stops during combustion, shows low waste oil pressure, has atomizing air problems or gives repeated mis-fire alarms, the vessel may face operational restriction, waste oil accumulation and MARPOL-related management pressure.

SVC Marine provides waste oil incinerator inspection and repair attendance for vessels in Vietnam, including bulk carriers, tankers, container vessels, general cargo vessels, offshore vessels, tugboats and other commercial ships.

02

Common Waste Oil Incinerator Defects

Waste oil incinerator defects may come from burner condition, ignition failure, poor atomization, low waste oil pressure, dirty filters, defective pumps, solenoid valve malfunction, sensor fault, control circuit failure or unsafe operating condition.

03

Common symptoms may include:

  • Mis-fire alarm
  • Waste oil pressure low alarm
  • Ignition failure
  • Waste oil pump running but no oil delivery
  • Atomizing air pressure abnormal condition
  • Flame eye or photo cell sensor fault
  • Fuel oil pump or diesel oil pump defect
  • Solenoid valve not opening
  • Burner fan, cooling fan or pump abnormal running condition
  • Control relay, I/O board or circuit fault

04

The repair team inspected and checked the following items:

  • Flame eye and ignition condition in burner
  • Photo cell sensor
  • Solenoid valves
  • Solenoid pump
  • Fuel oil filter and diesel oil filter
  • Limit switches
  • Pipe fittings
  • Atomizing air pressure condition
  • Waste oil pressure condition
  • Control circuit and relay function

05

Based on the inspection and functional checking, the following defects were observed:

The repair action included replacement of the I/O board DC circuit, repair or replacement recommendation for the waste oil pump, replacement recommendation for the atomizing air solenoid valve, system checking, commissioning and test after repair.

  • I/O card relay for atomizing air and waste oil pump control was not working properly
  • Fuel oil pump was defective, with no oil coming out after disconnecting outlet pipe
  • Solenoid valve for atomizing air was not opening properly
  • Mis-fire and waste oil pressure low alarm occurred after start attempt

Important Safety Note on Incinerator Troubleshooting

Marine incinerator repair must be carried out by competent personnel. Safety devices, pressure switches, thermostat protection, flame detection and interlock circuits are installed to protect the vessel, crew and machinery space. Any temporary diagnostic bypass or electrical test must only be done under controlled troubleshooting conditions by qualified technicians, with the system isolated where required and all safety protections restored before normal operation.

SVC Marine does not recommend operating a marine incinerator with safety interlocks bypassed. If a protection device is suspected to be defective, the correct approach is to identify the root cause, repair or replace the defective component, test the circuit and confirm safe operation before returning the incinerator to service.

07

Incinerator Troubleshooting Scope

SVC Marine can provide waste oil incinerator troubleshooting and repair attendance in Vietnam, including:

  • Burner inspection and cleaning
  • Flame eye and photo cell sensor checking
  • Ignition system checking
  • Fuel oil pump and waste oil pump inspection
  • Solenoid valve checking and replacement support
  • Fuel oil and waste oil filter cleaning or renewal support
  • Atomizing air pressure checking
  • Limit switch and safety interlock checking
  • Control circuit and relay fault finding
  • I/O board and electrical component checking
  • Pipe fitting and oil delivery line checking
  • Functional test and commissioning after repair

08

Fuel Oil Pump, Waste Oil Pump and Solenoid Valve Repair

Many incinerator problems are linked to poor fuel delivery or poor atomization. If the waste oil pump runs but no oil is delivered, the repair team must check the pump, relief valve, suction condition, filter, valve position, outlet line and related control signal.

Solenoid valve defects can also prevent atomizing air or fuel from reaching the burner correctly. SVC Marine can inspect, clean, test, repair or replace selected solenoid valves, fuel oil pumps, waste oil pumps and related fittings depending on spare availability and technical condition.

09

Control Circuit and Electrical Fault Finding

When the incinerator shows abnormal running condition, repeated alarms or failure during start sequence, electrical troubleshooting may be required. The repair team checks the control circuit, relay logic, I/O board, signal input, output command, sensor feedback and interlock condition based on the maker’s drawing and vessel’s actual wiring condition.

Control circuit repair should be done carefully. Wrong bypass, wrong jumper, poor insulation, loose terminal or incorrect relay replacement can create fire risk, machinery damage or unsafe operation. Proper checking and testing after repair are essential.

10

Commissioning and Test After Repair

SVC Marine can provide photo records, repair summary, findings, replaced parts list, remaining recommendations and spare parts requirement after completion.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does SVC Marine repair waste oil incinerators in Vietnam?

Yes. SVC Marine provides waste oil incinerator troubleshooting, burner inspection, fuel oil pump repair, solenoid valve checking, control circuit fault finding and commissioning support for vessels in Vietnam.

What causes mis-fire alarm in a marine incinerator?

Mis-fire alarm may be caused by ignition failure, dirty flame eye, photo cell fault, poor fuel delivery, low waste oil pressure, poor atomizing air, defective solenoid valve, burner problem or control circuit fault.

Can SVC Marine check incinerator electrical faults?

Yes. SVC Marine can check incinerator control circuit, relay logic, I/O board condition, safety interlock signals, sensor feedback and electrical components based on the maker’s drawing and onboard condition.

Can an incinerator be operated with bypassed safety switches?

No. Safety switches and interlocks should not be bypassed for normal operation. Any temporary diagnostic bypass must only be done by competent technicians under controlled troubleshooting conditions, and all protections must be restored before the incinerator is returned to service.

What information is needed for an incinerator repair enquiry?

The owner or manager should provide vessel name, port, ETA, incinerator maker and model, alarm details, photos, available spare parts, circuit diagram if available and required repair window.
