The hard work after the purchase

The transaction moved straight into a demanding drydock programme. The vessel needed hull, steel, machinery, safety and statutory work together with DNV class and Special Survey renewal.

SVC’s team attended the yard, checked repair progress and manpower, dealt directly with service vendors and put the day’s decisions and outstanding work before the owner.

Daily yard inspections and repair pressure

The superintendent checked what the yard had actually completed against the worklist. Manpower, materials and vendor attendance had to match the docking programme; unresolved items were escalated for a decision.

SVC recorded the hull and machinery repair position, inspected the nominated work and kept a daily photographic account. The owner received the site position, outstanding items and decisions needed to keep the work moving.

Close the survey items and the drydock worklist

SVC worked through the DNV survey comments, repair readiness and open items with the yard and service teams. The vessel completed the repair stage, DNV class renewal and Special Survey renewal.

The result joined the commercial purchase with a completed drydock and renewal programme in Vietnam. The classification society’s renewal decisions were reached through the survey process.

Plan the purchase and the first drydock together

A buyer should consider class dates and the first repair budget before approving the acquisition. SVC goes on board for the appointed inspection, negotiates price and MOA clauses, and puts the accepted findings into the delivery and yard worklists.

For post-purchase work, send the survey status, known defects, intended yard and docking window. See drydock supervision, pre-purchase inspection and completed transactions.
