Marine refrigeration repair in Tien Sa, Vietnam

Published

SVC Marine repairs marine refrigeration equipment at Tien Sa, including appointed compressor, valve, pipe-connection and electrical faults. Send the affected cooling system and what happened before it stopped cooling or tripped. Our technicians inspect the nominated equipment, carry out the agreed repair and record the checks actually completed during the vessel's work window.

01

Start with the affected room and the fault sequence

Poor cooling is a symptom, not a diagnosis of a failed compressor. Identify whether the complaint concerns a provision meat room, vegetable room, another refrigerated space or an air-conditioning circuit. Record the affected rooms separately and state whether they share the same machinery. A room that cannot hold temperature needs a different inspection worklist from a compressor that will not start or repeatedly trips.

Send the recent room-temperature trend, alarm text, compressor run or trip sequence and any pressure or electrical readings the crew already has. Note visible icing, airflow problems, unusual noise, oil traces at a connection or a recently renewed component without treating those observations as a confirmed cause. SVC checks the fault against the installed system so a suspected pipe leak, control problem and compressor defect do not become one undefined overhaul request.

Include the maker, model, refrigerant marking and relevant drawing or nameplate photographs. Refrigerant and oil compatibility, control settings and acceptable checks follow the installed equipment information, so a general cooling complaint is not enough to specify a replacement refrigerant or charging quantity.

02

Separate compressor, controls, valves and connections

SVC inspects the appointed compressor and its connected system, keeping mechanical work distinct from electrical fault finding. A compressor trip may require examination of its control or protection circuit as well as the machine. Report the actual alarm and the conditions when it occurs; the trip alone does not show which part needs replacing.

For a valve, solenoid or pipe connection, identify the component and circuit on a drawing or photograph. Say whether the immediate request is inspection, a suspected leak, a component renewal or pipe work. Our repair list names the part and connection actually worked on, rather than describing the whole refrigeration plant as repaired after a local task. Replacement components must match the installed system and appointed duty.

For electrical work, send the circuit or control reference and the observed starting or trip fault. SVC records the nominated checks and component work under the vessel's isolation arrangements. Bypassing a protective device is not an agreed repair outcome. Mechanical, electrical and refrigerant-circuit work remain separate lines in the scope and handover when they require different access, parts or checks.

03

Plan circuit opening and parts before the port call

An appointed job may include compressor maintenance, renewal of a drier filter or cooling component, valve or connection work, and the associated circuit service. Tell SVC which parts and consumables are already aboard and whether the equipment history or an earlier repair record is available. Check the exact component reference before arranging a replacement; a photograph alone may not identify its rating or compatibility.

The earlier SVC refrigeration-maintenance page describes oil and refrigerant removal, evacuation, recharge and drier-filter renewal as work items. For a new Tien Sa attendance, the installed system, fault findings and agreed scope determine which of those items are required. Opening a circuit does not justify automatically repeating every maintenance step or using the refrigerant from an earlier job. Circuit handling and the selected checks follow the applicable equipment procedures and requirements.

Agree when the affected system can be isolated and how the vessel will manage its provisions or other cooling demand during the outage. State any crew restrictions on access, shutdown and return to operation. SVC reviews the repair window, required parts and whether components need to leave the vessel before confirming the work arrangement.

04

Keep the repair and operating checks identifiable

The completion record should connect the reported fault with the equipment inspected, components repaired or replaced, and the checks actually carried out. Where readings are taken, identify the circuit, operating condition and observation time so the crew can interpret them. Record a compressor start or control check separately from the room-temperature observations.

A brief operating check does not prove that every room has recovered its required temperature or that the plant will perform under all loading conditions. SVC records the observed result and any further monitoring, unresolved defect, unavailable part or check left open. The vessel's equipment procedures and any applicable maker, class or statutory requirements define the checks and acceptance for the appointed work; no single test pressure or temperature setting applies to every system.

05

Confirm the Tien Sa berth and the next receiving point

Tien Sa is an operating terminal within Da Nang Port. Send the vessel's exact berth or other appointed receiving position, ETA and ETD, boarding arrangement and cargo-work restrictions. Include the available shutdown window and any access arrangements for moving a component or replacement parts. SVC checks access and attendance timing for that receiving point before confirming the work arrangement.

For a later call at Ky Ha, Chu Lai or Dung Quat, send the remaining worklist with the new receiving point. SVC carries out appointed machinery, electrical and pipe work across these related port calls. Keep the refrigeration equipment references and fault record with the enquiry, while reviewing local access, permits, parts and return timing again. Our Vietnam ship-repair team handles the wider engine-room worklist.

Questions before a refrigeration attendance

Does poor cooling mean the compressor needs replacement?

Not by itself. Identify the room, installed circuit and fault sequence. SVC reviews the compressor, controls and relevant valves or connections under the nominated scope before proposing the equipment work and parts.

Can provision refrigeration and air conditioning be quoted together?

Yes, as separately identified systems in one worklist. List the rooms or spaces, machinery references and symptoms for each so the parts, outage and checks can be agreed for the actual circuits.

Should the crew order refrigerant before the visit?

Send the installed refrigerant marking and equipment information first. The fault and circuit-service scope determine the requirement; the substitute and charging amount for your system are set from that information, not from another vessel's job.

What should the handover say if cooling remains below requirement?

It should state the actual repair and observed checks, then identify the remaining fault, monitoring requirement or further work. A renewed component and a successful starting check should not conceal an unresolved room-temperature problem.

What does SVC need for a Tien Sa quotation?

Email the SVC repair team with the berth or receiving point, ETA/ETD, affected rooms and circuit, maker, model and refrigerant references, symptoms and alarms, readings already available, photographs or drawings, parts aboard, isolation arrangements and the return window. Mark urgent items and the records needed at handover so the reply addresses the actual cooling problem.
