Steel renewal and hot work in Vietnam

Review steel plate, bulkhead and keel renewal photographs from SVC Marine work records. Send marked drawings and your Vietnam repair worklist.
01
Define the steel repair before arranging attendance
SVC Marine carries out steel renewal, welding and cutting work for vessels in Vietnam. Our work examples include replacement plate inserts, cargo hold bulkheads, stiffeners and keel plating in drydock. The repair team works to the agreed drawings, material specification and repair boundaries. Send the affected component, damage photographs and available measurements so SVC can identify the inspection, steel quantities, access arrangements and fabrication needed for the quotation.
Steel work may be planned for a port call or a docking project, depending on the affected area and access. Tell SVC where the vessel will receive the repair team, how long the work area is available and which drawings apply. This allows the onboard work, material preparation and inspection requirements to be planned together.

02
Plate and stiffener work
The project gallery shows plate renewal, insert welding, grinding and work access around the hull. State which plate, frame, stiffener or attachment is affected. Supply material specifications and thicknesses when documented. Where measurements or drawings are incomplete, identify what needs inspection before the quotation quantities can be fixed.
Separate local plate replacement from a larger renewal area. A worklist should identify the reference drawing, proposed boundaries, access and inspection needs. Distinguish permanent repair from a temporary proposal requiring specific technical acceptance. Do not use a previous job photograph as approval for a new repair design or as a substitute for the vessel's own documentation.
03
Cargo hold bulkhead renewal
The Dung Quat bulkhead case shows plate preparation, fit-up, welding, renewed stiffeners and inspection. These images make the work sequence visible without providing a new vessel's dimensions, steel grade or welding specification.
For hold repairs, indicate cargo status and when the area can be handed over. Identify the need for scaffolding, lighting, material handling and protection of adjacent equipment. The quotation should explain which access provisions are included and which are arranged by the vessel or another party. Link hatch-related machinery defects to the cargo hold and hatch repair hub so structural and equipment work remain clear.
04
Keel and bottom plating in dry dock
The keel steel renewal record contains marked damage and cropping-area photographs. A separate keel plate record shows marked bottom plating and cut-outs. These are drydock references and should retain that context when used beside afloat work.
If the enquiry concerns bottom plating, state the intended docking arrangement, drawing references and any measurements available. Describe where inspection, access or technical decisions remain outstanding. For a wider docking project, drydock supervision provides the related service context. A berth repair request and a dock renewal request should not be treated as the same working arrangement.
05
Hot work scope and completion records
Define welding and cutting requirements through the agreed worklist and applicable technical instructions. The vessel and worksite arrangements determine permits, access, isolation and acceptance responsibilities. Those arrangements must be established for the actual job, including requirements from the owner and any attending Surveyor.
The scope can identify material records, dimensional checks, weld inspections, photographs and any specified testing. Ask which documents will be handed over and who accepts the repair. The completion record should identify the work carried out, inspection and test results, items accepted and any work still outstanding. These details allow the owner to follow each repair item through handover.
06
Plan attendance around the actual port call
Send the port or anchorage, ETA, ETD, available working period and any vessel restrictions with the defect list. SVC reviews the required access, planned cargo operations and other work that affects attendance. The quotation identifies inspection, parts, fabrication, onboard labour, testing and any attendance by a Surveyor. Agree the required completion records, witness arrangements and handover responsibilities before work starts so each item can be followed through to completion.
For a wider worklist, use SVC Marine ship repair services. Email the repair enquiry with drawings, equipment references and photographs through the private enquiry channel. SVC Marine is proud to help complete the full lifecycle of a vessel.
FAQ
Can steel renewal be arranged at berth?
Send the affected area, drawings and port schedule. SVC confirms whether the access, work area and repair scope allow berth attendance or require a docking arrangement.
What defines the steel renewal quantity?
The vessel drawings, measurements and agreed repair boundaries define the quantity. A gallery photograph cannot establish it.
Can drydock photographs illustrate berth repair?
They may be linked as related records, but their drydock location and working context must remain clear.
