Underwater hull cleaning in Dung Quat, Vietnam
Published
SVC carries out underwater hull cleaning in Dung Quat for vessels with an appointed maintenance worklist. Our divers work on the agreed surfaces and record the areas attended and visible condition. Hull growth, coating information and the available port-call window help define the request; propeller polishing and suspected blade damage remain separate items. Send the worklist to our Ship Repair team.
01
Match the cleaning request to the hull condition
Start with the areas affected rather than a general instruction to clean everything. Name the hull surfaces to be included and send the latest available photographs or underwater inspection record. If only some areas are known to have growth, identify those areas and explain whether the owner is asking for inspection of the remainder or cleaning of a defined wider scope.
The coating information matters to the work discussion. Include the coating type or available coating records, the owner's maintenance instructions and any restrictions on the proposed cleaning. Where that information is unavailable, flag it in the enquiry. The condition check and agreed method need to address the vessel's actual surfaces; a photograph of growth alone is not enough to choose the treatment for a particular coating.
SVC distinguishes the initial observations from the cleaning items approved for the visit. If the inspection reveals a different condition from the worklist, the affected area and proposed change are brought back into the scope discussion. This keeps a useful record of what was requested, what was observed and what was carried out.

02
Plan around the actual Dung Quat call
Dung Quat is a commercial port and industrial-service area, so the terminal or berth name is a more useful attendance reference than the city alone. State the berth, anchorage or other appointed location, the expected arrival and departure, and any planned shift. If the port-call plan is still moving, identify which details are confirmed and which remain provisional.
Cargo work, vessel movements and other operations can affect the available underwater attendance period. Send the relevant schedule with the worklist. SVC agrees access and the appointed scope with the vessel and the relevant port or terminal parties before work starts. A vessel's presence in the port area does not by itself establish that in-water cleaning is permitted at its position.
Any local cleaning or environmental conditions need to be resolved for the actual location and proposed work. Include requirements already supplied by the terminal or vessel. If the requested surfaces cannot be attended within the permitted window, the worklist and handover should make the outstanding areas clear. An alternative next-port enquiry can then use the same area references rather than restart from an undefined request.
03
Separate propeller work from the hull worklist
If propeller polishing is requested during the same call, list it as a separate task. Include the nominated propeller surfaces, available photographs and any reported damage. Surface polishing and repairing a damaged blade have different purposes and quotation items. A suspected blade defect should be examined and recorded rather than described as something that routine polishing will correct.
Keep underwater inspection, hull cleaning and polishing distinct in the requested records too. Inspection images show observed condition; cleaning records identify the appointed areas worked; propeller records relate to that separate scope. This helps the superintendent assess the outcome without confusing a planned task with work actually completed. The Vietnam underwater service page provides the broader service scope.
04
Check coverage and handover before closing the worklist
A practical handover identifies the areas attended, records available views of their condition and notes the limits of coverage. Ask for the photographs or CCTV views needed for your maintenance file when sending the enquiry. Where a before-and-after comparison is required, use matching area references so the reviewer can understand which surface each view represents.
An incomplete area, an access limitation or a visible condition requiring a separate repair decision belongs in the handover. It should not be hidden within a general completion note. If additional work is proposed, keep it as an outstanding item until its scope has been agreed and carried out. This gives the owner a usable basis for the next maintenance decision.

05
Work at other Vietnam ports
SVC also carries out appointed underwater inspection, hull cleaning and propeller work for calls at Quy Nhon, Chan May and Da Nang. If the vessel's next call offers a different work window, include it in the enquiry. Existing related pages cover underwater inspection at Quy Nhon, air-compressor repair at Chan May and underwater inspection at Da Nang. Send the underwater worklist and any machinery fault as separate items so each scope can be assessed against its actual port-call arrangements.
06
Send the Dung Quat enquiry
Send the berth or anchorage, ETA and ETD, the hull areas requested, growth photographs, available coating information and any proposed propeller work to our Ship Repair team. Mark urgent items and the latest usable work window. Add local conditions already received and the photographs or report needed at handover. Where damage repair is also required, identify it separately through SVC ship repair services.
