The work at Nosco Shipyard

The owner needed a person at the vessel during a drydock at Nosco Shipyard in Vietnam. The work covered more than 40 MT of steel work, welding renewal at the bulbous bow, ballast-tank and hull inspection, and Turkish Lloyd class items. SVC Marine attended on the owner’s side and kept the repair and inspection worklist visible as the yard proceeded.

SVC worked at the vessel as the owner’s representative, checking the physical repair areas and reporting on what the yard and repair team carried out.

02

Steel renewal and bulbous bow

SVC inspected the steel-renewal areas at the vessel, compared yard progress with the open repair items and recorded what still required inspection. The drydock project involved more than 40 MT of steel work.

At the bulbous bow, SVC inspected the welding-renewal progress and brought outstanding work and class comments back into the daily worklist. This kept the owner informed about the repair area, inspection status and any item that could affect the docking programme.

03

Ballast tanks, hull structure and class items

SVC inspected ballast-tank and hull-structure areas during docking and reviewed findings with the vessel crew, repair team and Turkish Lloyd surveyor. The connected ballast-tank inspection record covers the internal structure and repair-scope review in more detail.

SVC recorded class comments against the relevant repair areas and checked whether each item remained open or had been dealt with. This made the Turkish Lloyd inspection work visible in the owner’s daily project record.

04

Owner-side records and completion

SVC sent the owner daily progress reports with photographs, steel-work status, pending repair and inspection items, and comments on delay or cost risk. The reports gave the owner a concrete view of yard progress rather than a generic status message.

The Nosco drydock was completed, including more than 40 MT of steel work and bulbous-bow welding renewal. The Turkish Lloyd-related repair items were closed and the vessel returned to commercial operation.

For a similar drydock in Vietnam

For an owner-side drydock enquiry, send the docking plan, repair specification, known defects, survey due dates, available drawings and proposed yard window. Mark the items for which you need SVC on board: steel and welding inspection, ballast or hull review, class-item tracking and daily owner reports. SVC can then define its inspection and reporting scope separately from the yard’s repair execution.

Read the drydock supervision service for the wider work method and the owner’s representative service for attendance and reporting responsibilities.
