Can SVC Marine carry out ship steel repair and hot work in Vietnam?

Yes. SVC Marine handles selected vessel steel repair, steel renewal, pipe welding, fabrication and controlled hot work at Vietnamese ports, shipyards and drydocks. The work package may include onboard inspection, measurement, repair-scope review, material preparation, crop and renewal, insert plate fit-up, welding, NDT or testing follow-up and completion reporting.

Hot work feasibility depends on the repair location, vessel condition, port or shipyard rules, cargo and tank condition, safe access, Permit to Work, isolation, gas-free requirements, fire watch, class involvement and available repair time.

SVC Marine does not treat steel repair as a manpower-only job. The work must be controlled from the defect and repair boundary through final inspection and close-out evidence.

Why the job needs a work package

When Vessel Steel Damage Becomes an Operational Issue

Steel damage rarely stops a vessel on its own. What stops the vessel is an unapproved repair method, a missing permit, or an item class will not close.

Corroded bulkhead, deck, bracket, platform or cargo-area steel may require cropped renewal rather than surface treatment.

Not every pipe can be repaired while the system remains operational. Whether the system must be shut down, drained and isolated is decided against the system duty and the vessel’s own procedure, not against the repair schedule.

Underwater, shell, bottom and class-critical work will normally require shipyard or drydock controls. It is not offered as berth or anchorage work.

Not every repair can be completed at berth or anchorage. Where the scope exceeds what the location safely allows, SVC Marine says so and prices the drydock or shipyard route instead.

Inspection After Welding

Ultrasonic thickness measurement. Readings define the repair boundary before cutting and support the inspection record afterwards.

Depending on the repair location and technical requirement, inspection may include visual testing, penetrant testing, magnetic-particle testing, ultrasonic testing or another approved NDT method.

SVC Marine can arrange or follow qualified NDT attendance and collect the resulting records where required. SVC Marine is not the certifying NDT body.

Can SVC Marine carry out ship steel repair in Vietnam?
Yes. SVC Marine handles selected steel renewal, pipe welding, fabrication, bulkhead repair, deck repair and controlled hot work at Vietnamese ports, shipyards and drydocks.
Can SVC Marine repair a damaged bulkhead?
Selected bulkhead repairs may be handled through cropping, insert-plate preparation, fit-up, welding and inspection, subject to structural significance, class requirement, access and approved repair scope.
Can hot work be performed while a vessel is alongside?
Selected work may be possible if approved by the vessel, port, terminal or shipyard. Cargo condition, tank condition, isolation, gas-free requirements, fire watch and Permit to Work must be reviewed first.
Can steel repair be carried out at anchorage?
Only limited jobs may be feasible. Port permission, launch access, weather, material transfer, fire protection, vessel condition and emergency arrangements must be reviewed.
Can SVC Marine fabricate an overboard pipe or pipe spool?
Yes, selected pipes and spools can be measured, prepared or fabricated ashore and delivered for onboard fitting. The material, dimensions, flange standard, system duty and testing requirement must be confirmed.
Are certified welders available?
SVC Marine can mobilize experienced and qualified welders for suitable jobs. Welder certification, welding process, WPS, PQR and class requirements must be reviewed for each scope.
Can SVC Marine arrange NDT after welding?
SVC Marine can arrange or follow qualified NDT attendance where required. The method and acceptance criteria depend on the repair scope and approving party.
Does every steel repair require class attendance?
No. Class involvement depends on the location, extent and structural or system significance of the repair. The owner or manager should confirm the requirement with the vessel’s class society.
Can a doubler plate be used instead of cropped renewal?
Only where technically acceptable and approved by the responsible owner, manager and class or other approving party. A doubler plate should not automatically be treated as a permanent alternative to proper steel renewal.
Can SVC Marine complete emergency repair before sailing?
SVC Marine can review feasibility and mobilize available manpower, materials and workshop preparation. Completion depends on scope, access, permits, inspection requirements and the available port stay.
