Auxiliary engine repair in Vietnam: generator and rotor work
SVC’s technicians repaired an auxiliary generating set whose voltage and frequency collapsed shortly after starting. The work included AVR renewal and rotor-interchange preparation; after repair, two auxiliary engines were working together.

01
Generator fault: output falls from 440V and 60Hz
The generator initially reached 440V and 60Hz, then its voltage and frequency fell to zero after several seconds. SVC checked the AVR, VDR, diodes and engine rather than treating the electrical output as an isolated fault.
The work identified the need for crankpin grinding, renewal of AVR and diodes, adjustment of governor overspeed and rotor rewinding. These were the job’s technical findings, not a standard replacement list for every generator fault.
02
AVR renewal and rotor-interchange work
SVC’s technicians checked and renewed the AVR. The team prepared the rotor-interchange work and set up chain blocks for handling the rotor on board.
The work brought engine and generator tasks into one repair programme. Access, component handling and the vessel’s working arrangements had to be considered together; the original work photographs record the repair activities.
03
Two auxiliary engines working together
The completed repair enabled the vessel to have two auxiliary engines working together. The result belongs to this work record; a new generator enquiry needs its own fault diagnosis and agreed test scope.
For a new job, SVC sets out the component work and operating checks in the quotation. Include any required load test or survey attendance with the repair request so that the test conditions and records are agreed before work starts.
04
Auxiliary-engine and electrical repair scope
Our marine technicians inspect and repair appointed generator-engine and electrical faults, including cylinder-head, piston, liner and bearing work, fuel and governor problems, cooling and lubrication defects, and selected AVR, diode, rotor or stator work.
The worklist separates onboard repairs from parts that need workshop machining or rewinding. Parts are quoted by maker, model, specification and availability; the scope states the tests and completion records the vessel needs.

Plan generator repair at Vietnam ports
Send the engine and alternator maker/model, rated output, alarm history, observed voltage and frequency, photographs, recent maintenance details, port and ETA/ETD. Identify available machinery, access and the vessel’s working window. SVC quotes diagnosis, parts, repair and the agreed checks together.
For appointed attendance, see Hai Phong, Da Nang, Dung Quat and Cai Mep. See ship repair in Vietnam for related machinery, electrical, hydraulic and pipe work.
